The world crude steel production by 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) totalled 169.2 million tonnes (Mt) in March this year, higher by 15.2% compared to March 2020.
The largest steel producing region was the Asia and Oceania, whose output totalled 123.8 Mt in March this year. The second largest producer was the EU-27 region, with an output of 13.6 Mt. In third place was North America, which recorded an output of 9.7 Mt. The output (in Mt) by the other regions is as follows: Africa (1.5), CIS (9.1), Other Europe (4.4), Middle East (3.6) and South America (3.6). |
