| AISI Signals Notable Uptick in U.S. Raw Steel Output |

The weekly domestic raw steel production data published by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) witnessed significant surge during the week ended May 8, 2021. The weekly production climbed higher significantly by 45.1% over the previous year.
The raw steel output by the U.S. mills totalled 1.774 million net tons (NT) at a capability utilization rate of 78.1%. The production had totalled only 1.223 million NT at a capacity utilization rate of 55.4% during the same period a year before. However, the production during the week recorded marginal decline by 0.8% when compared with the production of 1.788 million NT at a capability utilization rate of 78.7% during the prior week. |
